Pop-up in the Basque Country
From April 22 until May 22 we'll be hosting a parallel Sun and Co. experience in the Basque Country!
We have the villa booked for 30 nights, from April 22 until May 22. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to stay for the whole time, or just for half of it. If you choose the latter option, you can either come for the first 15 nights (April 22 – May 7) or for the last ones (May 7 – May 22).
A completely renovated historical luxury villa in the heart of the Basque Country. 8 bedrooms, a fully-equipped huge kitchen, a swimming pool, garden, good WiFi, and even a chapel (who knows, another Sun and Co. wedding may be happening?!). Plenty of space to create memorable experiences in our first-ever Sun and Co. Pop-up!
Sun and Co. Experience
We’ll have a similar Sun and Co. experience but in a different, stunning location. We’ll be cooking together, learning together, and growing together as always. Of course, there will be time to explore the area, enjoy the villa and try out the famous local cuisine of the Basque Country.
Between 13 and 18 people
We’ll host a maximum of 18 people in the house. After 6 years running Sun and Co., we found this is the ideal size for a group to be able to build meaningful relationships and create a family feeling. Get ready to meet very inspiring people in a very exciting setting!
Where are we going?
We’re heading to northern Spain for a change of scenery! Our luxury villa is located in what is possibly the most stunning area of the Basque Country: the charming town of Gautegiz Arteaga, in the centre of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve. The town is a 10 minutes bus ride from the closest big town called Gernika, and only a 30 minutes drive from Bilbao. Get ready to enjoy the beach, which is only 20 minutes by car, plus the mountains, the beautiful nature, and the amazing food and culture! All of these things, surrounded by the Sun and Co. community. Do you feel the excitement yet?!

What to expect at Sun and Co. Pop-Up
For one month only, we want to take our Sun and Co. experience to a whole new level! Think a month filled with social and professional events, but in a completely different and exclusive location, in the heart of a natural paradise.
This is the region of our co-founder Jon, so you will have the best local guide for exploring the area, visiting some amazing places, eating delicious pintxos, and having a one-time experience surrounded by like-minded people.
Our villa is located in a town called Gautegiz Arteaga, in the region of the Basque Country, northern Spain.
The closest international Airport is Bilbao, which is only a 30 minutes drive from the house. You can also get a bus directly from the airport to Gernika, and then change to another bus from Gernika to Gautegiz Arteaga.
Renting a car is also a good option and it will give you a lot of freedom once you are there.
You can expect very pleasant temperatures during the day. The average maximum daytime temperature lies around 21.0°C (69.8°F). At night it will drop down to 11.0 °C (51.8°F). Expect some rainy days, hopefully not many. We’ve got central heating for cozy game nights and a swimming pool in the garden for warm days!
We will be between 13 and 18 people in the house, depending on the number of couples that will end up coming. Based on our experience, this is the perfect amount of people to create a homey atmosphere and allow meaningful relationships to blossom.
The villa is located in the town of Arteaga, a pretty village surrounded by amazing nature and green mountains. It has a few local bars and a tiny supermarket. If we need a bigger supermarket, and to find more restaurants and bars where to eat all the tapas (and Pintxos), we can head to Gernika, which is just 10 minutes by bus.
Sun and Co. pop-up is located in Busturialdea-Urdaibai district, a unique jewel of nature in the Basque Country, which was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1984. We’ll be very close to the sea and at the same time surrounded by mountains. We’ll be able to do a lot of outdoor activities like hiking, surfing, climbing.. and many more.

There will be plenty of space in the villa to work from, be productive and get work done in between social time. We already have 3 big tables for 10 people each, and we have asked the property to provide us with some office chairs. We’ll also have some quiet areas for focus work, or to take private calls.
First and foremost, the villa is a completely new environment that will make this time unique. On top of that, we will try to make this coliving experience even more immersive and collaborative. For example, we’ll organise a virtual guest meet-up before April 22 to get to know each other and already start planning our events for the pop-up.
Food and sharing meals will be also very important of course! So expect cooking together nights most of the nights 🙂 Instead of each of us buying groceries separately, we thought it could be a nice idea to buy food together, also to minimise the number of trips to the supermarket. We’ll work out the details soon!

- If the guest cancels before February 1st, 2022, 100% of the payment will be refunded.
- If the guest cancels within February 2nd and March 8th, 2022, the deposit (50%) is not-refundable*.
- If the guest cancels after March 9th, 2022, full payment will be required*.
- In case the original booking is modified and/or shortened after February 2nd, cancelled days will be charged*.
- If the guest arrives and decides to leave earlier than scheduled, in the case of a no-show or cancels the booking after the arrival date, full payment will be required.
(*In sections 2, 3 and 4, if we find a replacement for the cancelled or modified booking, full payment will be refunded).
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- The deposit, 50% of the booking, will be paid upon reservation in order to confirm the booking.
- The remaining 50% of your booking will be paid before March 8th, 2022.
- For bookings made after March 8th, 2022, we will request full payment upon reservation to confirm the booking.
- Sun and Co. reserves the right to cancel the stay at Sun and Co. Pop-up. If that’s the case, full payment will be refunded to all of the guests.
- To cover for any unexpected damages caused by individuals, we will also need each guest to provide their credit card details.
Guests may be required to confirm their identity by providing their booking reference; their passport/identity card/driving licence and a valid credit or debit card which will be swiped in the presence of the card holder.
The information above may be requested for each member of your party over the age of 16 and we reserve the right to refuse entry to persons who cannot provide the information set out above.
Your booking is for a class of room and does not guarantee that you will be able to stay in a specific room or in the same room for the duration of your stay. If you have indicated a preference for a particular room with your reservation, we will use our reasonable efforts to honour this preference. However, we may need to allocate an alternative room to you for operational or safety reasons. If we need to move you to a different room during your booking for which a lower rate is available than the rate you booked at, we will refund you the difference in the rates.
Sun and Co. reserves the right to refuse to further accommodate hosts behaving irresponsibly and contractual obligations will be terminated. The guilty party will be liable for the cost of any damage caused. Where this is the case shall have no obligation to refund you for lost accommodation, other services or any other loss or expense incurred.
Sun and Co. accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to persons or property during their stay. We reserve the right and you hereby authorise us to charge your credit or debit card for any damage incurred by you, with a maximum of 1,500€, to your room or the building during your stay (including without limitation specialist cleaning) or for any items that are missing when you leave .
At certain times, facilities may become unavailable due to maintenance, adverse weather conditions or other reasons beyond our control. We will attempt to keep all guests informed of these circumstances however this may not always be possible.
Guests are not permitted to smoke in rooms or public areas.
The company accepts no liability and will not pay any compensation where the performance of its obligations is prevented or affected directly or indirectly by or as a result of force majeure or any circumstances beyond its reasonable control including, but not limited to, flood, earthquake, extreme adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, fire or failure of electric power, interruption or malfunctioning internet connection, gas, water, or other utility service, plant machinery, computers, vehicles or any collapse of building structures.
Nothing contained in the contract or in any other document referred to or incorporated in it shall be read or construed as excluding any liability for death or personal injury caused by the company’s negligence or liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
The contract and any non-contractual obligations arising in connection with it are governed by Spanish law. Each party irrevocably waives any objection which it may now or later have to proceedings being brought in the Spanish courts in Gernika, Spain.
