Working with the community at Sun&Co has shown me that coliving goes far beyond sharing a space. It’s about connection. With a place, with its people, and with its rhythm. As someon raised in Jávea, I’m proud to see how this small corner of the Mediterranean has become a meeting point for a diverse, respectful, and engaged community.

More Than Tourism: A Different Way of Being Here

Jávea has long been a popular tourist destination. While this has brought some benefits, it’s also created challenges: rising living costs, changing neighborhoods, and a growing disconnect from the local way of life.

That’s where projects like Sun&Co make a real difference. People don’t come just to visit; they come with intention. They want to integrate, learn the language (some even give Valencian a try), join local celebrations, and truly understand the culture.

A Presence That Matters

What I value most about this community is its involvement in daily life. People aren’t just passing through. They shop locally, sit in our cafés, ask about our traditions, and get genuinely excited about homemade paella. They sign up for workshops, attend local events, and are always eager to learn more.

That kind of presence creates real connection—and as a local, it’s something I deeply appreciate.

Supporting Local, the Everyday Way

One of the most positive aspects of coliving at Sun&Co is its direct impact on small businesses. It’s not about big campaigns—it’s about everyday actions: buying bread from the neighborhood bakery, recommending a family-run restaurant, collaborating with artisan workshops, or even offering professional skills to local entrepreneurs.

We’ve seen spontaneous partnerships emerge: shared classes with local artists, digital improvements for long-standing businesses, and small initiatives that bring public spaces to life. It all starts with respect and a genuine desire to contribute.

A Workspace That Builds Connections

Sun&Co is also a shared workspace. Our coworking area is open to both guests and locals, creating a natural meeting point between the global and the local.

Connections happen organically: ideas shared over coffee, collaborative projects, and meaningful conversations between people who might not otherwise cross paths. It’s a reminder that remote work doesn’t have to be isolating—it can be a powerful way to build community.

Rethinking Life in Small Towns

The experience at Sun&Co shows that small towns can be more than quiet places—they can also be spaces for growth, both personally and professionally. More and more young locals are realizing they don’t need to move to a big city to build their careers. There are opportunities right here.

As someone from Jávea, I feel lucky to be part of a project where collaboration, creativity, and human connection are part of everyday life. A place where authenticity matters, and learning through coexistence is encouraged.

Towards a More Connected Future

Sun&Co proves that it’s possible to open up our town to the world without losing what makes it special. For those of us who live here all year round, that matters. We want Jávea to remain livable, with accessible prices, a sustainable pace of life, and a strong local identity.

Intentional coliving helps strike that balance. It encourages cultural exchange, mutual learning, and real connection.

A Personal (and Grateful) Note

I grew up here. I’ve seen Jávea change—sometimes too fast, sometimes cautiously, unsure of what might be lost along the way. That’s why I’m proud to be part of a project like Sun&Co, where the intentions are clear and the values are aligned. Where coliving isn’t just a trend, but a thoughtful way of life. And where each person who arrives with empathy ends up leaving something meaningful behind, even if it’s not always visible.

So thank you—to those who come here willing to listen, to learn, and to be part of this place rather than just pass through it. Thank you for treating our town as more than a destination. Because real coliving starts with something simple (and rare): empathy.

Warmly,
Eva García-Cañedo Bolufer
