If you know us at Sun and Co., you’re aware that we value being able to work smarter and live better. Over the years, we’ve welcomed and learned from over 500 remote workers, location independent workers, and digital nomads. During this time, we’ve not only seen impressive business growth in various individuals, but also lifelong connections made between people in the community.

It’s time to share 5 ways on how to make sure that you’re successful as a remote worker. If you’re not yet there, no worries! We’re also going to share what you need to do to start your journey.

Take a Look at What Held You Back in The Past

Before we talk about taking steps into the future, it’s important to reflect on your past. Odds are, most people will focus on their wins and all that they’ve accomplished, which is something we recommend. But let’s take it a step further. First, let’s set aside some time to think about any limiting thoughts or beliefs that you might have had in the past.

How often did you stop yourself from doing something or going after what you really wanted because of a limiting thought about yourself, your personality or your capabilities (both personal and professional)?

Too often, we hold ourselves back from greatness or what it is we truly want because we are afraid of what might happen when we actually get there.

Now, take time to think about how far you’ve come in the past year and write down your biggest professional goal for the next 12 months, as if you had no limits or constraints working against you.

Invest In Learning New Skills

Investing in your life and your business is one of the best things that we can do for ourselves. Putting in the time, effort and money to elevate both our skills and knowledge is necessary to reach new heights. When you take time to remove yourself from your everyday life and routine to dedicate time and energy to learning at an accelerated pace, it can be exactly what you need to move forward in your job and towards your goals.

We know that investing in learning is exactly what we need to accomplish more and bring us closer to “success”, which is why we always encourage skillsharing and masterminds within our Sun and Co. community.

Here are a few examples of previous Sun and Co.’s skillshares:

Surround Yourself with People Who Are Smarter Than You

We’re all familiar with the saying that we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with so, imagine what it would look like if you started spending time with people who were smarter than you. When we challenge and start surrounding ourselves with those who have different (and sometimes more advanced) experiences, it has a powerful impact on the way we think and the limits we’re willing to push.

Finding mentors, experts or even other people who are looking to grow to new levels of thinking and working is sometimes all we need to take our lives and businesses to new heights.

Keep Yourself Accountable

It’s time to stop making goals that we forget about shortly after creating them. When you are a remote worker, you need to keep yourself accountable in a variety of ways. One of them that never falls short is finding accountability partners to work with. What actually is an accountability partner? Well, someone else who is on a similar journey that can help you stay accountable and motivated towards goals that you set. Over the years, we’ve seen people who have met at Sun and Co. not only keep each other accountable over time, but also become close friends and even business partners. Impressive, right?

When you have accountability partners or that sense of community helping you move forward, it helps you keep your goals at the forefront of your mind and feel supported along the way.

Make Time To Stay Inspired

Ironically enough, being successful in your business isn’t always just focused on business. We all need to look for balance, so that we don’t just spend our days behind a computer. Instead, we need to focus on being able to see new places and have new experiences as well. This is something that we love about being based in Javea, Spain. It allows for the people who come and experience life with us here, not just to work smarter but also to learn how to live better and stay inspired. When you’re in beautiful and remote places like this one, it’s the perfect opportunity to take a step back, find your focus and stay inspired.
