Get to know our newest Sun and Co. Team member
Tell us a bit about you, Alicia!
I was born and raised in Burgos, known as “the city of cold” in Castilla-Leon, Spain. When I turned 18, I moved to The Hague, the Dutch city where I ended up living for the past 5 years. I completed my education Leiden University in International Studies, an interdisciplinary bachelor’s programme that has taught me to examine global issues from a holistic perspective. More particularly, I am very interested in arts and culture as well as in initiatives that bring about positive change, transforming places into more sustainable and vibrant locations.
It is my drive for community-driven projects that has led me to discover Sun and Co. and the coliving world!
What do you do at Sun and Co.?
I help my coworker and friend Iva to run social media platforms, especially creating content for Instagram through visual storytelling. In addition, I am in charge of hosting, which means I make sure the co-livers feel at home throughout the length of their stay.
Outside of work, what do you love to do?
I love dancing my moves, reading without noticing how many hours went by, discovering interesting characters on social media, watching series, films, and reality shows, thought-provoking covos, painting, and drawing. I also like having slow mornings and long nights on weekends.
If you had to describe coliving in one word, what would it be?
Inclusiveness.
What do you think makes Sun and Co. so special?
The emotional bonds among the co-livers, definitely. It is very interesting to witness how complete strangers become friends – and even long-term ones – during a short period of time. Sun and Co.’s atmosphere is full of easygoingness, empathy, care, tolerance, and support and that’s just beautiful.
What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone looking to become location independent?
Reward yourself for your hard work and travel. Stepping out of your comfort zone is always going to make you feel happy and fulfilled. Living in unfamiliar places and being surrounded by new people will boost your life quality. If you have the chance to work remotely, don’t doubt it and take the advantage of slow travelling. I ensure you that transforming your normality like this for some weeks – or even months – is a wise decision!
What is your favourite thing about Javea?
Jávea is a mixture of many things I love like blue waters, local culture, history, and good weather. It is actually the first time I live somewhere where all of these factors coincide.
Biggest surprise since joining the Sun and Co.’s team?
How quickly human relationships evolve and how people are eager to connect not only socially but emotionally. But the best surprise is that I feel fulfilled and attached to my workplace and coworkers, which makes me very happy and alive!
